Born in 80’s, Cheng Yong’s life and work thrive at the intersection of local traditional culture and modern cultural phenomenon. Departing from a deep introspection in relation to the external, Cheng’s oil painting delves into the inner world of himself so that endows the traditional western oil painting with attributes of spirituality and contemporaneity. There is an advocation of preservation throughout the artist’s trajectory in which the traditional revives in modern time, in which the artist dwells in his introspective world, in which he preserves the solemn silence in response to the uproar.
