This exhibition presents the artworks of Tkachov brothers, of great reputation in Russian art circles. The art cooperation between brothers is rarely seen in Russian painting circles, which is also a rare art phenomenon. The brothers have been generally considered as one artist since they started cooperating in 1954.

Focused on labors in villages, they have created many images of simple and sincere peasants, especially the healthy and strong women, with deep country flavors. Well – known in Russia in late 1950s and early 1960s, they have never been slack at pursuing. The two brothers have always been keeping vigor and enthusiasm, not caring hardships and efforts whatsoever.

As a matter of fact, the two brothers have different characteristics in their life drawings, but they make a common effort in completing a theme of painting through complementary mergence, which requires their mutual coordination, understanding and their common agreement in and love for art. They have absorbed relevant elements from each other, ultimately forming a new and integrated style. The collaborated works, which combine their styles together, have become a personal style of “one artist”, that is, personal style of “Tkachov brothers”.
