The purpose of Mountain Art Foundation is to systematically promote and to collect important works in the Chinese art history. Since 1987 when the foundation started to collect Chinese contemporary works, it went further to look for the origin of Chinese art development; since 1992, the foundation started to collect works from the Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions which are most influential to the Chinese art

communities at the time. And the collection continues to grow as the foundation tried to perfect the line of Chinese art history and also the line of hundred years of Russian art.

Russian art, unique in its Realist style, is quite different from other part of the world.  It is important part of the development of Chinese art history which Russian literature and art influenced a lot of Chinese artist at the time. In the 1960s, Russian art frequently exhibited in China, and Russian art became the only window for the Chinese audiences to understand western art. And further create a special bond between the two countries.

Russian art emphasize the inspiration from life, which is what most of the artists are aiming for in their career. Mountain Art Foundation takes this opportunity to exhibit its collection. And will take the collection around several cities around China.  Which this will be a rare opportunity for Chinese audiences and artists to enjoy and embrace the work of art.

Lu Xun Academy of Fine Art will be co-organizing the exhibition Land of Fertility: Mountain Art Russian Collection in the musuem of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Art started from 2011 April 10.
